Aeromexico has announced flights to Madrid from two Mexican cities – Guadalajara and Monterrey. The announcement comes as Spain has now reopened to fully vaccinated travellers.
From Guadalajara
Starting 15th December 2021, Aeromexico will operate 3-weekly flights between Guadalajara’s Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport and Madrid’s Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport. The flights will run with the following schedule:
- Madrid-Guadalajara
- Departure time: 23:35
- Arrival time: 05:35 (the next day)
- Flight time: 13 hours
- Flight number: AM39
- Frequency: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
- Guadalajara-Madrid
- Departure time: 14:25
- Arrival time: 08:00 (the next day)
- Flight time: 10 hours and 35 minutes
- Flight number: AM36
- Frequency: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays
The route will be operated by the airline’s Boeing B787 Dreamliners.
Mr. Enrique Alfaro Ramirez, Constitutional Governor of the State of Jalisco, said:
On December 15, the first flight from Madrid to Guadalajara will be arriving in our city. Today is a step that many have worked to achieve this, we thank Aeromexico for their solidarity with Guadalajara and with our state, thanks to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico, as it is also a fundamental promoter in this achievement; to German Ralis, as the head of the state’s Tourism Board, who has led the efforts and to the Alejandro Guzman’s team, who has worked together with Ernesto Sanchez and the entire team of the Economic cabinet, pushing this initiative, which today becomes great news for Guadalajara.

Raul Revuelta Musalem, General Director of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP), said:
We are thrilled to materialize this effort of more than 20 years, achieving a direct route to Europe, to and from the Guadalajara Airport. This manifests Aeromexico’s progress and its confidence in the growth and modernization of this airport. Even in these circumstances, GAP is investing more than 15 billion pesos through the Guadalajara 2020-2026 Plan, which includes the remodeling of Terminal 1, the construction of a second runway, and of Terminal 2.
For the launch, Aeromexico is offering introductory fares starting at USD 599 in Economy Class and USD 1999 in Premier Class.

From Monterrey
As of 16th December 2021, the airline will operate flights between Monterrey International Airport and Madrid’s Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport 3-times-a-week. The schedules for the flights are:
- Monterrey-Madrid
- Departure time: 15:05
- Arrival time: 08:00 (the next day)
- Flight time: 9 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: AM34
- Frequency: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
- Madrid-Monterrey
- Departure time: 23:35
- Arrival time: 04:50 (the next day)
- Flight time: 12 hours and 15 minutes
- Flight number: AM35
- Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
These flights will also be operated by Aeromexico’s B787s.
Roberto Russildi Montel, Secretary of Economy and Labor, Nuevo Leon, said:
Nuevo Leon is a state with substantial tourism development, both in business and leisure. We have more than 4,000 foreign companies established in the state, many of them coming from Europe and Asia and mainly from the United States. When we introduce the attractions that Nuevo Leon has to draw investment, one of them is the talent of its people, then there is the infrastructure that the state has to facilitate doing business. Regarding this nonstop service between Monterrey and Europe, society was requesting this route as it will help increasing business meetings and locals who travel to Europe. Nuevo Leon has been characterized for having the highest foreign investment, and this has required traveling from and to all over the world. Now, it will be easier to come from this city to arrive directly to our state.

Monterrey is one of our main hubs, and with this announcement, we will have around 100 weekly flights to this destination. Connecting Monterrey with Europe will definitely improve connectivity for passengers and air cargo transport.

To celebrate the launch, the Mexican carrier is offering introductory fares starting at USD 599 in Economy Class and USD 1,999 in Premier Class.
Aeromexico will be offering more than 20 weekly flights from Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara to the Spanish capital, with more than 13,300 weekly seats, which represents a 43% increase in the airline’s capacity between Mexico and Spain.
