Qatar Airways has announced a expansion in Egypt. The carrier will begin flying to Sharm El-Shiekh in December, resume flying to Luxor in November and has increased flights to the capital city of Cairo.
New service to Sharm El-Sheikh and Luxor resumption
Starting 3rd December 2021, Qatar Airways will operate 2-weekly flights between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Sharm El-Shiekh International Airport. The schedule for these flights is:
- Doha-Sharm El-Sheikh
- Departure time: 09:00
- Arrival time: 10:45
- Flight time: 2 hours and 45 minutes
- Flight number: QR1311
- Frequency: Tuesdays and Fridays
- Sharm El-Sheikh-Doha
- Departure time: 13:15
- Arrival time: 17:30
- Flight time: 3 hours and 15 minutes
- Flight number: QR1312
- Frequency: Tuesdays and Fridays

As of 23rd November 2021, the Doha-based carrier will once again operate 4-weekly flights between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Luxor International Airport. The flights will run with the following schedule:
- Doha-Luxor
- Departure time: 08:25
- Arrival time: 11:00
- Flight time: 3 hours and 35 minutes
- Flight number: QR1321
- Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
- Luxor-Doha
- Departure time: 12:10
- Arrival time: 16:05
- Flight time: 2 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: QR1322
- Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
The new services will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 12 seats in Business Class and 132 seats in Economy Class.
The resumption of operations to Luxor and the launch of flights to Sharm El-Sheikh will enable passengers flying to and from these destinations to enjoy easy connectivity to over 140 destinations in Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas. The resumption of operations to Luxor and launching of flights to Sharm El-Sheikh sees Qatar Airways now operate a total of 34 weekly flights to Egypt.
Frequency increase in flights to Cairo
As of 1st October 2021, Qatar Airways is operating 3-daily flights between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Cairo International Airport.
Qatar Airways states that the expansion of services in Egypt will further provide Egyptian football fans more travel options to attend the FIFA Arab Cup 2021, which will take place from 30th November 2021 to 18th December 2021.
The Egypt expansion comes just days after Qatar Airways announced resumption of flights to Medina, Saudi Arabia and the addition of Almaty, Kazakhstan to its network.
