Finnair to start flights to Mumbai in July; announces summer schedule 2022

Finnair has announced Mumbai, India as a new destination with flights starting in July this year. The airline has also announced schedule of summer season 2022 which will start tomorrow (27th March 2022).

Flights to Mumbai

Starting in July 2022, Finnair will operate 3-flights-a-week between Helsinki Airport and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The flights will be available on sale as of 5th April 2022. The airline will operate Mumbai flights with Airbus A330 aircraft.

Russian airspace closure impact

Finnair has cancelled some long-haul flights to Asia due to Russian airspace closure, and consequently, frequencies in Finnair’s European network are adjusted to the resulting decrease in transferring passengers .

Finnair will continue to operate daily flights to Singapore, Tokyo, Delhi and Bangkok, 3-weekly flights to Seoul, 2-weekly flights to Hong Kong and once-weekly flight to Shanghai. With the addition of Mumbai, the carrier will serve 8 Asian destinations this summer.

Finnair will suspend ts other services to Japan for the summer 2022 season, due to the Russian airspace closure. Finnair was originally scheduled to serve Tokyo Narita and Haneda airports, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka with altogether 40-weekly flights. The airline is also postponing the start of its new Busan route.

On 27th March 2022, Finnair will launch 4-weekly flights to Dallas, which was postponed due to increase in COVID-19 cases, and will offer connectivity across the United States with its oneworld partner American Airlines. Another new route, Seattle, opens on 1st June 2022 with 3-weekly frequencies. The airline will continue to fly daily to New York JFK and Chicago and 3-times-a-week to Los Angeles. In addition, Finnair will fly daily from Stockholm Arlanda to New York JFK and to Los Angeles 4-times-a-week.

In Europe, Finnair has a network of almost 70 destinations, including Southern Europe leisure destinations such as Alicante, Chania, Lisbon, Malaga, Nice, Porto and Rhodes, all served with several weekly frequencies. Those seeking city experiences will enjoy the at least double daily connections Finnair offers to key European cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Hamburg, London, Milan, Paris, Prague and Rome. In Scandinavia and the Baltics, Finnair offers multiple daily flights to the capital cities of Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius.

Summer sees us increasing flights to over 300 daily flights. We continue to serve our key Asian destinations despite the longer routings caused by Russian airspace closure, and also have an excellent offering in Europe and North America.
