Competition and the growth of Pantnagar airport
The announcement by SpiceJet to launch flights to Pantnagar comes just a few days after rival carrier Indigo launched flights from Delhi and Dehradun to Pantnagar. SpiceJet will compete with Indigo on the Delhi-Pantnagar-Delhi route.
Once SpiceJet lands in Pantnagar, the city will have 2 daily flights to Delhi and 2 daily flights to Dehradun. It’s good to see a small regional airport like Pantnagar expand like this, a airport which only had 1 daily flight to Dehradun until 26th March 2022.
While the summer season is considered to be a peak season for tourists visiting the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, it remains to be seen how will these flights perform.
