Lufthansa Group carrier Discover Airlines, which unveiled a new brand identity in September 2023, has announced plans to expand its fleet and introduce a new Business Class product for its long-haul aircraft. Let’s go over the details.
Discover Airlines expanding fleet
Discover Airlines will take delivery of six Airbus A330-300s and “at-least” three Airbus A320s over the next three years. The Airbus A330s are scheduled to enter service by mid-2027, while the Airbus A320s will join the fleet in 2025.
In the course of 2026, three Airbus A330-200s are scheduled to leave the leisure airline’s fleet due to expiring leases. The fleet will therefore grow from the currently 27 to initially 33 aircraft by the end of 2027.
Following our launch three years ago and the successful build-up of our airline, we are now taking the next steps to further consolidate our position as a leisure airline in Germany and to sustainably strengthen the Lufthansa Group’s market presence in the growing leisure travel segment. With additional capacity and the upgrade to a next-generation product, we will be able to serve the leisure travel segment even more comprehensively, efficiently and flexibly in the future. Since its launch, the carrier has relied on Airbus A330s on long-haul routes and Airbus A320s on short and medium-haul routes.

New long-haul products
Discover Airlines will introduce new seats for all three travel classes on its A330-300s. From 2027, the German leisure carrier will have a 1-2-1 configured Business Class giving every passenger direct aisle access. Also, a new entertainment system with larger screens and better resolution will be introduced in all three travel classes.
The airline says that further details “on the product renewal are currently being finalised and will be announced at a later date”.
