Qatar Airways increases frequency to Seychelles

Qatar Airways has announced plans to increase flights to Seychelles as the islands ‘opens up fully to the world’.

As previously reported by IH Aviation and Travel, from 25th March, travellers will be able to visit the Seychelles, without quarantine or restriction in movement upon arrival, and regardless of vaccination status, providing they take a PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival, and adhere to public health measures including wearing of face masks, social distancing, regular sanitization and washing of hands.

Note that the relaxation of restrictions applies to all visitors except those from South Africa.

As a result, Qatar Airways will be deploying the larger Boeing B787 Dreamliner on Doha-Seychelles-Doha route from 25th March with 3-flights-a-week in order ‘to meet increased demand from visitors to the idyllic resorts’. Earlier, the airline used to operate the route with a Airbus A320.

Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer, Qatar Airways said:

We resumed our flights to the Seychelles in December 2020. Now the islands are opening up further for visitors, we are delighted to offer more seat availability and an enhanced and sustainable experience for our passengers using our Boeing 787 Dreamliners. We know the authorities in the Seychelles remain vigilant and visitors will still be required to adhere to public health measures put in place in view of the pandemic these will include wearing of face masks, social distancing and regular cleaning of hands.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has announced ‘Zero Touch Technology’, first of its kind and also, the Doha-based airline has resumed flying to Moscow.
