Passengers travelling on these ‘COVID-tested flights’ will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 antigenic or RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours of their departure from Canada. They’ll also have to take another test upon landing in Italy, but will not be required to isolate or participate in health monitoring programs if they test negative.
Passengers who test positive prior to departure will not be allowed to board the aircraft. However, they will be entitled to a refund – within 2 weeks – or will be provided with a voucher for future travel.
Americans are already able to travel to Italy on COVID-tested flights from various airlines, including Delta Airlines and American Airlines. This week, Emirates too launched COVID-tested flights between Milan and New York JFK while the Middle Eastern carrier also announced COVID-tested flights to Italy from its hub in Dubai.
Travelers from the United States will also be able to take benefit of Air Canada’s flights to Italy. Canadian officials continue to recommend that people avoid nonessential travel. Inbound travel for tourism is also not yet permitted in Canada.
Italy has reopened for tourism once again along with Spain, Greece and some other European nations. Meanwhile, Air Canada recently resumed flights to Dubai and has also announced new routes to Hawaii for Winter 2022.
