Air India announces flights between Mumbai and Malé

Indian national carrier Air India has announced a new nonstop route connecting Mumbai with Malé, Maldives. The announcement comes after Maldives announced that it is now accepting travellers from India.

Mumbai-Malé nonstop

Starting 28th July 2021, Air India will fly twice-weekly between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Malé’s Velana International Airport.

The flights will run with the following schedule:

  • Mumbai-Malé
  • Departure time: 10:00
  • Arrival time: 12:20
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 50 minutes
  • Flight number: AI267
  • Frequency: Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Malé-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 13:30
  • Arrival time: 16:50
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 50 minutes
  • Flight number: AI268
  • Frequency: Wednesdays and Saturdays

These flights will be operated by Airbus A320 family aircraft featuring Business Class and Economy Class cabins.

Travellers entering the Maldives from South Asian countries such as India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are not permitted to stay at tourist facilities in inhabited islands until 30th July 2021.

All tourists, including those who have completed the prescribed dose(s) of COVID-19 vaccines, need to carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test with the sample being taken within 96 hours prior to departure to the Maldives from the first port of embarkation en-route to the island nation. Children less than a year old are exempt from the requirement of the PCR test.

Recently, Indigo and GoFirst announced resumption of flights to the Maldives while SpiceJet has announced new flights from Mumbai to Malé.
