IHG to open a Intercontinental resort on Dominica’s Douglas Bay

Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of a Intercontinental resort on Dominica’s Douglas Bay.

A conversion and renovation of an existing spacious resort, InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa will mark the brand’s third Caribbean resort hotel upon its planned spring 2023 reopening.

Located along Douglas Bay on the island’s northwest side, the resort will feature 151 guest rooms and suites. There will be four on-property restaurants and beach and swim-up pool bars will provide refreshment for guests following a day exploring nearby Cabrits National Park or Dominica’s various hot springs, waterfalls and canyons.

The resort’s four outdoor pools, expansive spa, fitness center and beach access provide a relaxing tropical getaway, while its 8,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space and onsite business center accommodate corporate events and blended travel.

We’re pleased to collaborate with Range Developments and local government leaders to expand our presence in the Caribbean and introduce our latest IHG-branded resort property within an emerging travel hot spot. The alignment of the natural wonder of Dominica and the inspiring design, authentic experience and personalized service that define InterContinental Hotels & Resorts will undoubtedly make this property a must-visit destination for local and global visitors and a model for resorts throughout the region.

Beyond InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa, Range Developments also is developing two IHG-branded resorts in Grenada – Six Senses La Sagesse (projected to open in fourth quarter 2023) and InterContinental Resort La Sagesse (projected to open in first quarter 2025).

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has established an unparalleled legacy in the luxury hospitality space, and one that represents an ideal fit for travelers who take both a sense of curiosity and expectations for a memorable stay with them to Dominica. InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa will offer experiences that suit play, adventure and relaxation, and we look forward to extending our relationship with IHG to bring this stunning property to life.

said Mohammed Asaria, Managing Director, Range Developments.

Presently, 19 Intercontinental properties are open across South and Central America, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean, and four regional hotels are among the 84 in the brand’s global pipeline.

Meanwhile, IHG recently announced that it will introduce its voco brand in India with a resort in Jim Corbett.
