This will be the first time that Akasa Air will operate a “through flight”. In simple terms, passengers will have the option to book a flight from Bengaluru to Agartala via Guwahati and vice-versa. Because both the flights are under the same flight number, passengers won’t need to get off the aircraft in Guwahati.

We are excited to announce the addition of Agartala and Guwahati as our latest destinations. Guwahati is the gateway to Assam and Agartala is one of the fastest growing cities in the region and we are pleased to enhance air connectivity to provide a boost to the immense potential of the region’s aviation, industrial, and tourism prospects. Apart from flights between Bengaluru and Agartala, we further augment our network between Bengaluru and Chennai by adding a 5th frequency between this route.

Now 8-destinations strong

With the addition of Guwahati and Agartala, Akasa Air will now serve eight destinations, with the other six destinations being Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai and New Delhi.

Akasa Air will also add twice-daily flights between Bengaluru and Chennai, bringing the total number of daily flights between both the cities to five. In comparison, IndiGo operates 7-flights-a-day on the route while Air Asia India operates a daily flight. Akasa Air is clearly taking on IndiGo extremely fast.

Expanding Bengaluru hub

Akasa Air is expanding its Bengaluru hub at a fast pace. The airline will now serve seven destinations from the capital of Karnataka – Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, New Delhi, Guwahati and Agartala. This clearly indicates that the airline is making Bengaluru as its major hub.

The airline launched flights from Mumbai on 7th August 2022 while it launched flights from Bengaluru on 13th August 2022. It seems that the airline is having a tough time getting slots at Mumbai Airport, given that Bengaluru is growing extremely fast in Akasa’s network. Or else it may be the case that Akasa just wants to expand from Bengaluru for now. Akasa serves three destinations both from Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Akasa will start flights from New Delhi on 7th October 2022.
